Plumber in Nassau County

Much of Nassau was built in a hurry after the war, on slabs and low crawlspaces, and that construction is what decides how a leak there gets found and fixed.

The plumbing here

In a house built on a slab, the water lines run under the concrete floor. When one of them leaks, the signs are a warm patch on the floor, a meter that turns with every tap off, or a bill that has crept up — and the repair is only as small as the leak was precisely located. That is why leak detection matters more here than almost anywhere else we work.

Houses with a crawlspace have the opposite problem: the pipe is reachable, but nobody looks at it until something smells or the floor goes soft. Water heaters tend to sit in a garage or a utility closet off the kitchen, rather than in a basement.

What we get called out for

  • A warm spot on a tiled or concrete floor, especially near the kitchen or bathroom.
  • The sound of running water with every tap in the house off.
  • A water bill that has gone up without any change in how you use water.
  • A musty smell, or a soft floor, over a crawlspace.
  • A water heater in the garage or a closet that has started to leak or rumble.

Before we come out

  • Before you call, turn off every tap and look at the water meter. If it is still moving, tell us — it is the most useful thing we can know about a suspected slab leak.
  • Have the last water bill to hand if you think usage has gone up. The change is evidence.
  • Nassau is a longer drive from the shop, so give us the full address when you book and we will confirm the arrival window around it.

Questions from Nassau County

Do you have to dig up the floor to fix a slab leak?
Usually only a small section of it. We locate the leak before anything is opened, so the opening goes where the leak is rather than where a guess put it. Sometimes rerouting the line through a wall or ceiling is the better repair, and we price both.
How do I know the leak is mine and not the water company's?
If the meter moves with everything in the house turned off, the leak is on your side of the meter. We start from there.
Do you travel to all of Nassau?
Yes. Give us the address when you book and we will confirm the arrival window.
